Single Moms...

Paula A. Tomey-Allen

Single moms can have
A special way,
Of getting their family
Through the day.

From the time they hit
The alarm by their bed,
til the last freckled face
is kissed on the head.

Through the course of their day
They’ll wear different hats,
From doctor to lawyer
To a chaser of cats.

With one can of tuna
They’ll stretch to feed six,
And still have leftovers
For the next night to fix.

They strive to teach children
What’s wrong or what’s right,
And will pace the floor
til their home safe at night.

Of all the callings
That come from above,
Mom” or “Mr. Mom”
also means love.
