Paula A. Tomey-Allen
Today’s the day you’ve dreamed of
for thirteen plus years,
The memories they seem to cloud
your mind with tears.
You’ve worked hard to arrive
at this time of completion,
Lockers filled with books
or an incomplete composition.
Old friends you no longer
will pass in the hall,
For, they too, will move on,
as will one and all.
Your life is now filled
with a future plan,
Which college to attend
your mind to expand.
The advice the staff gave you
for your life’s success,
Now winds through your mind
like ribbon in a nest.
But, through all of this,
just remember one thing,
Make sure others who follow
hear your name in succinct.
